THE ANNUNCIATION - By Leonardo Da Vinci
The Annunciation, created in 1472 by Leonardo Da Vinci using oil and tempera paint, depicts the moment angel Gabriele told Mary she’d be conceiving a child. It is one of Leonardo’s first artworks, as shown by the influence religion has on the painting. It is later on in his life he would start painting other subjects. Even if young, Da Vinci was already showing a talent for art, as shown by the use of Chiaroscuro on the characters, in order to portray depth and add volume.
