The Alamo is a famous mission designed to colonize Texas through the Natives. This involved forcing them into spanish customs, like jobs, religion, and the spanish language. They all failed however, because of the Natives dying of diseases, etc.

Presidios were like guard towers in the sense of protecting something bigger. They were smaller buildings based around or near the mission itself to protect the missions from raids.

The spanish missions were being raided by Apache and Comanche tribes. So, in order to protect the missions, they had soldiers employed to work the presidios.

Fray Massanet, a friar for the spanish missions, helped build the first mission in East Texas. As a friar in the mission of San Jose Francisco de los Tejas, he would preach to the natives and convert them to the catholic faith.

Native Americans housed the missions and were the mission of the missions. These were the people trying to be converted into spanish citizens so Spain could colonize Texas, or as it was known in that time, Tejas.

Mission Concepcion was another very famous mission that the Spanish founded to convert the Natives. It also featured as a battle station, like the other missions, during the Texas Revolution.

Also another famous mission, probably the most famous, was Mission San Jose. It was recognized not only by its size, but also its magnificence. This Mission is regarded as the "Queen of the Missions".

A famous sight at Mission San Jose is the Rose Window. Nobody knows who is was built by nor who it was built for, but people have had their suspicions.

Natives in the missions had to work as part of their naturalization process to become spanish. To make basic food and bread they used corn that they would put into this device and mash it up to make a dough or flour. Other tools similar to this were used for similar jobs.
