The berlin wall was built by east german soldiers. It was about thirty miles long. It took less than two months to complete it.

Early built
A lot of families began to panick, since the were being separated, many people lost their jobs. The 30 mile long wired wall divided berlin into two. The people in east berlin would begin to experience food and supplies shortage.

The first build of the berlin wall consisted of barber wire and cinder blocks. However overtime it was replaced with concrete walls that were up to 15 meters tall, they were topped with barber wire and they were guarded
How life changed for berlin
There were many people that were separated from their families and their jobs, as they were found at the other side of the wall. In the east side of berlin, they started to experience food and supply shortage as the soviets made sure no products would be transported to the east side of berlin

Escaping east berlin
It was nearly impossible to cross the berlin wall. More than six hundred people were shot by guards for trying to cross to the other side, or died in others way while attemping the escape
