I chose this photograph to be in my exhibition because in my opinion, it was a significant event for women when they got voting rights, (in most countries in after WWI).
The Treaty Of Versailles (1919)
I decided to include the image from Treaty of Versailles, where the leaders of the most powerful countries at the time met in the palace of Versailles. They decided to end conflict, but also to humiliate the Germans, that they caused WWI.
Hyperinflation in Germany
I chose to include the photograph of how Hyperinflation looked like because it was a disaster in Germany that affected almost everyone. Money stopped having value because they were printing so much of it to pay France for reparations. Everything was getting very expensive, but people couldn’t do much with their money…
Dawes Plan
I included this because this helped Germany to get out of the Hyperinflation crisis. The Dawes plan was when Germany borrowed money from the US to invest it in their economy and factories, so they would produce goods. This would help them get even more money to pay France for reparations.
Life after the Dawes Plan
I included this image to show how everyday life looked like during the mid-1920s. As mentioned earlier, Stresemann improved life in Germany and this made Berlin (the capital) a very good place to be in during that time. There was a lot of art, architecture, music, fashion, etc.
Wall Street Crash (1929)
I included this image to show the Dawes Plan because it helped Germany to become richer. Germany had a new chancellor, Stresemann. He decided to borrow money from the United States and then invest it in German factories and their economy. This would help them produce goods, and then they could pay the French. The only condition was that after some time, Germany would have to give back the US the money. This improved living conditions in Germany as well.
Massive Unemployment Rate in Germany
I decided to include this photograph in my exhibition because this was a massive problem in Germany. There massive unemployment crisis in Germany after Wall Street Crash. At first, around 2 million people didn’t have a job, but by 1933, it increased to around 6.1 million.
Hitler’s Promises
I used this image in my art gallery because this was the start of Hitler coming to power. He wanted to win the elections in parliament, but he didn’t have the majority of votes. He promised the people, who had lost their jobs, that he would give them their job back if they would vote for him.
The Reichstag fire (1933)
I chose this image because it lead to Hitler to getting rid of the communist party because he blamed them for starting the fire. The communists couldn’t take part in elections.
Nazi Propaganda Poster
I chose to include this in my exhibition because Nazi party made many propaganda posters. This one for example represents that so many people follow and support Hitler’s ideas. He was the only hope for people living in poverty, so they voted for him.
