Video explaining how Fritz Lang changed cinematography forever
Fritz Lang (the man with the eye patch)
The man with the eye patch
Fritz Lang was born in Vienna 130 years ago, on December 5, 1890. Despite losing sight in one eye after being wounded during the First World War, he was a man with a great cinematic vision and is still considered one of the most influential German-language film directors in the world.
Fritz Lang
Lang had already created an impressive body of work in the German cinema before coming to the United States in 1934. Although it took him some 21 years to fashion 22 Hollywood films, arguably at least half of them are noirish masterpieces of menace—tone poems of fear and fate that have stood the test of time.
