Homo Habilis lived at a similar time to the Homo Rudolfensis, but they appeared around 2.3 million years ago and died out around 1.4 million years ago. Unlike the Homo Rudolfensis, they had a larger forehead and had narrower and smaller molars. They also showed lower degrees of prognathism.
Homo Ergaster
Existing around 1.9 to 1.5 million years ago, Homo Ergaster was a good example of a chronospecies, or a single species that changed over time. Some of their notable features included their narrow cranial bones and cranial vault. A notable example of the Homo Ergaster was the Turkana Boy.
Homo Erectus
Homo Erectus existed between 1.8 million years ago to just 400 thousand years ago. They were best known for their shovel adjacent canines, and sagittal keel. Prominent examples of Homo Erectus includes the Java Man and the Peking Man.
Homo Antecessor
Not many fossils have been collected on the Homo Antecessor, but they have been projected to live around 1.2 million years ago to 800 thousand years ago. With what fossils have been collected by scientists, they have a low forehead and an occipital bun. Scientists also believe that the Homo Antecessor were cannibals.
Homo Heidelbergensis
Homo Heidelbergensis have been believed to exist around 600 to 100 thousand years ago. Their most notable features included their larger faces and rounded heads, but they also had the thickest brow ridge of any human evolution. They were also capable of building free standing structures and creating symbolic art pieces.
Denisovans
Scientists have had trouble locating the fossils of Denisovans, but their have been a large amount of DNA samples retrieved instead. It's believed that they lived around 370 thousand years ago to 30 thousand years ago.
Neanderthals
It's believed that the Neanderthals existed between 250 and 28 thousand years ago. They had a large cranial capacity along with arm asymmetry in men. They also had a strong social life, as they potentially could make and speak languages and use Mousterian tools.
Modern Homo Sapiens
Our current body structure has existed for over 200 thousand years ago. This form includes the reduction of the face, globular brain shape, and a defined forehead and chin. Modern Homo Sapiens also developed cave art, sculptures, and burial practices.
Homo Floresiensis
Homo Floresiensis existed along Modern Homo Sapiens around 94 and 17 thousand years ago. They are typically referred to as "Hobbits" because of their dwarfism. They had a small cranial capacity alongside their small stature.
Homo Rudolfensis
The Homo Rudolfensis existed between 2.4 million years ago to 1.6 million years ago. They were known for their Larger and More Robust facial features and their large cranial capacity.
